November’s menu is filled with seasonal ingredients and a balance of spices to keep the winter blues (and germs) at bay as well as some comforting dishes to ease the gradual slide into winter. Tuck in…

And, November is World Vegan Month.  If you’re not vegan, why not take this opportunity to try one of our vegan options?

Friday 1st November

Caribbean vegetables in a mustard, coconut and rum sauce.

It’s a Caribbean delight tonight – choose this delicious dish filled with pumpkin, sweet potatoes, plantains and lashings of spices in a rum and coconut milk sauce. Served with a portion of steamed rice.

Meat: Spicy, marinated chicken thighs

Vegetarian / Vegan: With spicy, marinated tofu

£10 per person

Friday 8th November

Homely, wholesome homity pie

This is comfort food at it’s finest. What is homity pie though?  One of the theories (and my favourite) is that it originates from the Land Girls in the Second World War – a dish that was created due to food rationing, making use of the ingredients available from the land.  Homity pie was born.

Homemade shortcrust pastry holds a hearty portion of onions, leeks and potatoes in a creamy, cheesy sauce.  Served with a generous portion of cauliflower cheese.

Vegan: With dairy free ingredients, naturally

Meat: Home roast smoked gammon is folded into the pie filling

£10 per person

Friday 15th November

Thai Red Curry

Our homemade red curry paste – plenty of fresh and dried red chillis, lemongrass, galangal, garlic and a few other spices – works its magic on butternut squash, red and yellow peppers and mushrooms in a coconut milk sauce.  Served with a portion of steamed jasmine rice.

Vegetarian and vegan: With tofu

Meat: With locally reared beef

£10 per person

Friday 22nd November

Kerry’s Stew and Dumplings

We’re back to comfort food tonight for a chipotle sweet potato and mixed bean stew with onions, garlic and tomatoes.  The jewel on the crown – homemade cheesy dumplings baked in the sauce, sitting proudly on top. Served with steamed, fresh, local. green vegetables.

Vegetarian / vegan: Add extra beans

Meat: Add seasoned lamb

£10 per person

Friday 29th November

Warm lentil salad

It’s our final Friday meal before December and is a little different to the rest of November’s dishes.  This filling, nutritious, flavoursome salad is made with warm puy lentils, red onions, cherry tomatoes with a zesty dressing, served on a bed of spinach.

Vegetarian/Vegan: With warm, roasted butternut squash

Meat: With warm, roasted chicken breast pieces

£10 per person

And that’s the end of November.  As we head into December… bring on the brussel sprouts…
